Regenda Housing Association invested in staff and resources to work over a number of years to develop a thorough and detailed whole organisation approach to lone working and personal safety. Under their own branded ‘We Care’ initiative they launched their company toolkit of resources, systems remodel and training programme. Christine was involved in identifying gaps in their previous approach, in improving internal systems, delivering the training across the company (initially targeting high risk staff), and in working with the company to achieve buy-in for the changes. This hugely successful approach has had lasting impact; a dynamic health and safety director is driving forward improvements setting Regenda apart as a model of good practice. Regenda has won an award recognising its work in this category. The Best Business Award, for best in Health and Safety recognises achievement in the field of Health and Safety.
“Like all organisations, we have a responsibility to ensure our working practices comply with health and safety regulations – but to many people, that can seem complicated and overly burdened with jargon. But it is vital that we all understand why we are doing what we are doing, that we are trying to live up to our motto – working together in safety. Ensuring that our lone workers are not only safe, but also feel safe, is very important to us. Christine skilfully pulled together a comprehensive lone working training programme, which helps our staff understand the risks they face on a day to day basis, together with skills and techniques to manage those risks. The training is well received by all our colleagues and helps us to develop a safe working culture.”
